NZTrio, critically acclaimed as 'a national treasure' and 'this country's most indispensable ensemble' present a tapas-style feast of music with vibrant and piquant sounds from Spain, Argentina, Brazil and beyond. Mouth-watering works from Ravel, Piazzolla, Cassad'o and Alb'eniz are performed alongside fresh toe-tapping local delicacies by kiwis Claire Cowan and Alex Taylor.
Joining founding member of NZTrio, Ashley Brown (cello) for Exotica, are Concertmaster for the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Andrew Beer (violin) and internationally renowned solo artist/Senior lecturer at Auckland University School of Music, Stephen De Pledge (piano). This powerhouse ensemble of New Zealand's best have each played extensively throughout North America, Europe, Asia and Australasia, with performances broadcast on TV and radio networks worldwide, and have multiple recordings and accolades to their names.
This concert is presented in support of the Gisborne International Music Competition. A function to launch the 30th anniversary of the GIMC will follow the concert performance.
