Gisborne District Council operates registered summer campgrounds during daylight savings months. Tairāwhiti Gisborne is one of the few districts in New Zealand that not only allows but encourages visitors to Summer Camp. There are however certain rules that must be adhered to, such as camping in designated areas and using Gisborne District Council rubbish bags.
The summer campgrounds are open until Monday 17 April 2017.
No freedom camping is allowed at registered summer campgrounds. Be sure to check out all the information available on the Gisborne District Council website.
