Sunday 19th January: Hackfalls Arboretum, New Year get-together

 Late “Christmas/New Year” Social Get-together – All ages and stages welcome! Bring food to share for lunch. For those that wish to, walk around some of the attractive paths in the Arboretum. There is a delightful and easy walk around a lake with mature planted trees.

(The tramping club will pay the $10/person entry fee.)

 February 15th – 16th, Overnight trip to Sandy Bay, Waikareiti

 Leave 7.30am Saturday, return 6.00pm Sunday 

Cost - $25 for transport, $25 for hut fees

It is a four - five hour walk from Aniwaniwa to Sandy Bay Hut, at Lake Waikareiti. We will leave vehicles at Aniwaniwa, stay Saturday night at Sandy Bay Hut, and then walk back along the Ruapani Track on Sunday. Bring your own food and gas cooker. Please let me know by 15th January, so I can do hut bookings.

Could include a relaxing soak at Morere on the way home, so bring some extra money for this if it sounds tempting.

Sunday, March 1st: Pembroke to Waioma Station, Wharekopae Road, Rere [M]

From the airstrip on Pembroke Station at about 600m we will climb through farmland and bush edge to 880m following a farm track. Then follow a stream for about 6km back to Wharekopae Road and Waioma Station, which may involve some bush bashing. About 10km walking overall, with quite a bit of altitude gain and many ups and downs.

 Sunday, March 8th: Doonhill Station, Whakarau Road

Leave 8.30am

Farm walk over Doonhill Station on and off farm tracks, including climbing from 340m at the homestead to a saddle at about 720m, and a waterfall. Great views towards Matawai, Mt Misery, and surrounding country.

Circuit on farm tracks, with great views. Option of going out to trig and back.

LAKE TUTIRA

Friday 24th, Saturday 25th, Sunday 26th April 2020

ACCOMMODATION – stay at Guthrie Smith Lodge – Accommodates 50 people – Has large kitchen, toilet & shower facilities.  People would need to bring their sleeping bag, pillow case, towel and all their food.

COST - Minimum $250 + GST per night. We will need at least 10 people - $25 + GST per person per night.

SUGGESTIONS – Tracks to explore.

Bell Rock, Bell Bird Track, Holt Forest, Shine Falls, Boundary Stream, and tracks around the Lake.

Sunrise Hut - Situated in the Ruahines – Could stay at the hut overnight and explore tracks, or make it a day visit.

Napier/Havelock North – Waipatiki Beach Walk, Cape Kidnappers & Te Mata Peak.

TRANSPORT - Gisborne to Lake Tutira 347km return x 15c = $52

Gisborne to Te Mata Peak 480km return x 15c = $72

Gisborne to Sunrise Hut (Ruahine) 622km return x 15c = $93
