Rere Falls
One of the most charming waterfalls in New Zealand, Rere Falls, surrounded by farmland, is located on the Wharekopae River
Country roads, and lack of mobile reception, means you get a chance to really disconnect from the busy-ness of life and connect with the more natural elements.
On your way to Rere from the city, you’ll come across New Zealand’s national arboretum. Founded in 1910 by Douglas Cook, Eastwoodhill encompasses 131 hectares of exotic and native flora for a walk to remember through gorgeous gardens, trails, parks, reserves, that makeup one of the best play spaces in the country.
There’s also the famous Rere rockslide down the road - a true natural rush for adrenaline seekers. 60 metres long and created by natural forces – this is a next level slip and slide that’s a popular spot to cool off on a hot day.
Or for a more tranquil experience in Rere, check out the nearby Rere Falls. Picnic beside a cascading waterfall, go for a swim and enjoy plenty of photo opportunities in this beautiful hidden gem.
